Happy New Year to all the friends of the Ryan Harvey Foundation!

We are so grateful for the generosity, kindness and time that you have all given to support the families stricken with rare pediatric brain tumors and the research to find a cure for diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas. Foundations like ours are responsible for most of the funding for this research. The good news is that the progress that is being made is absolutely amazing. They have started conducting biopsies that have changed treatment protocols dramatically. The sad news is that there is still not a single child who has survived this disease. We have recently learned of another child who has been diagnosed with D.I.P.G.  The rush of hope, faith and love that comes over us is almost unbearable as we pray that this child’s story will be the one we are all waiting for.

The spirit of this past holiday season brought in another $10,000 donated to the Ryan Harvey Foundation. Since inception the RHF has raised over $250,000 to find a cure for DIPG and help families cope with the situation.  

As we enter a new year, we experience new levels of hope. The hope that by working together we can change the ending to the story to be one of great happiness and joy. When this day comes we will celebrate and know that this was largely due to all of our collective efforts.

You are amazing and so appreciated - each and everyone one of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Ryan Harvey Foundation Mission Statement        
Ryan lived his life with laughter and passion. He cared deeply for others. He was remarkable in his drive to live life to its fullest even when physical challenges made it an incredible task. His zest for life and concern for others is the inspiration for the Ryan Harvey Foundation. The Foundation’s goal is to help find a cure for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma’s (DIPG) and related pediatric tumors. Equally as important, we want to help families that are going thru what we are going thru and to help ease their pain in whatever way we can.

-The Ryan Harvey Foundation has been officially recognized as a public charity and has 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. This has huge financial implications for the foundation. Corporations can now sponsor and match funds. Large organizations can speak to support the foundation and many already have.

          Ryan Harvey couldn’t wait to be in Middle School. He was so excited to be one of the big kids. He loved to see all of his friends at school and he thought his teachers were the best. He had the most keep-trying spirit of anyone I’ve ever known in my life. When Ryan was in a wheel chair he would always want to come to school, but when he couldn’t he would be unbelievably sad. Ryan was also very smart and always found a way to overcome obstacles. He even tricked his teachers into getting him to be in band! That takes intellect! Above all these things, Ryan Harvey could certainly make people happy. He had this way of making you laugh and he could think of the funniest jokes. Ryan also had the most wonderful smile. Even if you didn’t know him directly, remember his name and what he did because Ryan Harvey was an amazing kid.
